What if my partner hates being photographed?

Short answer: You don't need posing skills — you need a photographer who doesn't make you pose. The fix for a camera-shy partner is to skip stiff poses and just do something together: walk the city, grab coffee, share smørrebrød, talk. Good candid photographers capture the in-between, so the camera stops feeling like a spotlight. Most “I hate photos” people relax within ten minutes.

If this sounds like your partner, breathe — it's the most common thing I hear.

One groom told me before the wedding that he hated cameras and would look awkward in every shot. So we didn't do a photoshoot. We went for a walk. They got coffee, wandered, laughed at something I didn't catch — and I photographed that. By the end he'd forgotten I was there.

I don't ask people to pose; I give them something to do.

One thing to do

Stop worrying about learning poses. Book someone who works through walking, prompts, and real moments — and let your partner off the hook.

Common questions

Skip static posing. Use movement, simple prompts, and real activities so the person relaxes and forgets the camera.

No. A good photographer guides you with prompts and captures candid moments.
