Does weather ruin wedding photos in Copenhagen?

Short answer: No — and a bright cloudless day is often the harder one to shoot. Copenhagen's soft grey sky works like a giant diffuser: even, flattering light with no harsh shadows or squinting, the kind editorial shoots pay to recreate. Light rain and Nordic overcast give you that expensive, magazine look. The only timing thing worth protecting is 30 minutes near sunset for your couple portraits.

So if you've been anxiously refreshing the forecast — you can stop.

Last summer a couple messaged me in a panic the night before their wedding: rain forecast, all day. We went ahead. The soft, even light meant no hard shadows under the eyes, no squinting, no blown-out highlights on the dress. Their favourite photo of the whole day is the two of them under a single umbrella, grey sky behind them, laughing. Harsh midday sun could never have made that image.

Harsh sunshine is the light you fight; Nordic overcast is the light you use.
